Our Peachtree City Dog Park Association negotiated a new management contract with the City Council of Peachtree City. The contract was approved on January 21, 2010 by unanimous vote. A couple of weeks prior, the contract was approved by the city’s Recreation Commission by unanimous vote. - - Our old contract with the city used the traditional “sports association” format which was a poor fit since our park is not a sporting venue. - - Some of the highlights of the agreement include: (a) the city provides trash pick-up and the water utility – (b) our association manages and enforces the rules – (c) association has the right to issue membership and access fees – (d) association has the park maintenance responsibility. - - We will now work on proceeding with the fence expansion on the south end of the park. A full 100 percent of all fees collected goes back into operating and maintaining the Dog Park. The association has no paid employees and relies upon volunteers to function. - - Out of county users of the Dog Park pay $10 more for their memberships. The additional $10 will go to the city at the end of the year to help cover the cost of city services provided for which county users already pay.
